Wayward Son
by Rainbow Rowell

An emotional roller coaster ride. I loved the first book, Carry On, and was eager to read the follow up. SPOILERS: The first book ended on such a hopeful note, but this book was heartbreak after heartbreak and angst as all the characters tried to figure out who they were in this new world. All the characters are complex and I felt a connection with them all in different ways. In Penelope’s newfound lack of confidence, in Agatha wanting to be more than just the chosen one’s girlfriend, in Baz and Simon not always having the words for their feelings and being young and unsure. I’m eager to read the sequel to this one as well and hope the boys can figure out how to say what they need to and figure out their relationship.

Warriors Dont Cry By Melba Pattillo Beals
by Melba Patillo Beals

This book really shows you what the author experienced as one of the students to desegregate Central High School and shoes the sheer hell she went through.

Art, Inc. The Essential Guide For Building Your Career As An Artist
by Lisa Congdon

A great guide for someone wanting to break into the art industry. It’s full of good advice and information. Sometimes, it seems like a lot of information to take in or, sometimes, not enough. I also feel that the interviews would be more helpful with an example of the artist’s work in the book. I’d pause and look them up, but that sometimes lead to a rabbit hole of looking into an artist or art style and reading would be put on the back burner.

Red White And Royal Blue
by Casey Mcquiston

This book was beautifully written. It took one of my favorite romance tropes, enemies to lovers, and gave it a unique spin. The characters felt real and alive, and I cried more than once over the heartbreak and successes in these pages. This book make me truly enjoy reading again, and made me feel not alone in the tumultuous world we’re currently in. It gave me hope, and what’s better than that?

I, Alex Cross
by James Patterson

It is a great book to read. Alex Cross did everything he could to solve his nieces murder no matter how mad the higher ups got all the way up to the White House Secret Service agency. But the person responsible for the murder really threw me for a loop.

On Ocean Boulevard
by Mary Alice Monroe

This was a wonderful book as have been with the rest of the Beach House Series. A delightful read and very informative on the lives of turtles.
